Hello, my name is Twanna Renaye Shepherd and I'm a childcare provider in Kalamazoo, Michigan, located in the Comstock school district. I'm passionate about providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. I prioritize:
6:00–7:15 AM – Arrival & Free Play
• Quiet table toys (puzzles, manipulatives, soft blocks)
• Infant floor play (tummy time, sensory mat)
• Diaper checks upon arrival
7:15–8:00 AM – Breakfast (Staggered)
• 7:15 Toddlers/Preschoolers eat
• Infants fed according to individual schedule
• Children finish → table books or quiet toys
8:00–8:30 AM – Circle Time
(Infants nearby with soft toys)
• Welcome song
• Weather
• Feelings check
• Short movement song
• 1 short book
8:30–9:30 AM – STEAM Play
• Sensory bin
• Building blocks
• Art (process-based)
• Simple science exploration
• Fine motor trays
Infants:
• Highchair sensory (water painting, safe textures)
• Floor play with baskets
9:30–10:00 AM – AM Snack
10:00–11:15 AM — Outside Time
Outdoor gross motor play:
• Riding toys
• Balls
• Chalk
• Nature walk (short yard loop)
• Blanket time for infants
If weather prevents outside:
• Indoor movement course
• Music & movement dance
11:15–11:30 – Story Time (Wind Down)
• 2 short books
• Felt board or puppets
• Finger plays
11:30–12:00 – Lunch
• Serve toddlers/preschoolers first
• Infants fed individually
12:00–12:30 – Diapers & Nap Setup
• Darken room
• Soft music
12:30–2:30 – Rest Time

o Required rest for 30–45 min
